Read on to know more about the same.

ZeroCall25: A Global Initiative

The ZeroCall25 Award is an international award given to NGOs that work towards upliftment and ending discrimination against persons with disabilities and is established by a platform called International Disability Alliance (IDA). Organizations are to be selected and nominated for recognition if they have made a veritable impact on the improvement of the situation of people with disabilities in the world.

You might wonder about the interesting name of the award – ZeroCall25. The name is very apt, as it denotes Zero tolerance and zero discrimination against the disabled people of the world, and that they should be able to independently and dignifiedly lead their lives by the year 2025.

Criteria for an NGO for persons with disabilities for the ZeroCall25 Award

The ZeroCall25 Award is given to organizations that have been most effective in their promotion and support of disability inclusion. The selection criteria include:

  • Innovation: This is all about the ways that this organization has adopted in its endeavours to handle the problems of disability.
  • Impact: The tangible and quantitative benefit brought in the daily lives of differently abled and experiences of persons with disabilities.
  • Sustainability: The organization’s ability to sustain its programs and services, i.e., the financial capacity of the organization to support and continue implementing its programs and services.
  • Global Reach: At present when everyone is thinking global, how can an NGO stay behind? The organization’s ability to go beyond its local or regional base of operations is also a criteria.
  • Alignment with Global Goals: The organization’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Why is the ZeroCall25 Award Important for Disability NGOs?

Now that we have established how prestigious and honourable the ZeroCall25 Award is, let’s understand how it plays a crucial role for an NGO working for the disabled.

  • Raising Awareness: It brings to light the social initiatives made by organisations to ensure people with disability are included meaningfully in the society, and that they are contributing towards the progress of the whole community.
  • Encouraging Collaboration: Not only does it receive and help spread information about the NGOs and other agencies working actively in this area, but it also encourages organizations that address similar issues to come together, collaborate, and share their experiences with one another.
  • Inspiring Action: It inspires others to take action and contribute to a more inclusive society, where everyone is given an opportunity not just to live, but to be a meaningful part of the larger community.

TRRAIN’s Impact

TRRAIN has been shortlisted for the ZeroCall25 Award due to its exceptional work in empowering persons with disabilities through employment. The work done by the people of TRRAIN in providing sustainable livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities has made us visible at a global stage. Here is just a glimpse of our initiatives, which have demonstrated significant impact in the following areas:

  • Skill Development: We offer unique and comprehensive training programs to equip individuals with disabilities with the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. Our initiative called Pankh aims at providing PWDs with the wings they need to fly past the barriers in their growth.
  • Job Placement: Our dedicated placement services connect individuals with suitable employment opportunities. At TRRAIN, after we provide them with suitable training and skill development opportunities, we help them get suitable job placements in the retail and allied industries.
  • Employer Partnerships: We work with employers across industries to ensure that people with disabilities are integrated into the community, both in the workplace, and lead a life of self-sufficiency, dignity and respect.
  • Advocacy and Awareness: Providing job opportunities and training alone cannot fulfill our dream of diversity and inclusion. We also rope in the entire society by raising awareness about the capabilities and potential of persons with disabilities and advocating for their rights.

A Brighter Future Ahead

To be shortlisted for the ZeroCall25 Award is an honour in its own right, but we know it is just the start. We will continue to work towards our mission of providing sustainable employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

And we take this special moment to thank all our partners and volunteers from the bottom of our hearts and acknowledge that all this is only possible through their support. Through your sustainable livelihood donations, we have been able to successfully mobilize resources and do some really good work on this front. We are confident that this is a small step towards a better and brighter future for all.

Thank you once again!
